The area of Alwar, Bharatpur, two districts of Rajasthan included in the National Capital Region (NCR), will be greatly reduced in the coming time. Because the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) has decided to reduce the geographical size of NCR to a radius of 100 km. Politics has also started on this decision of the board.
Actually NCRPB meeting was held recently. In which the draft Regional Plan-2041 has been approved. In this, it has been agreed on the delimitation of NCR that its geographical shape should be a circular area with a radius of 100 km. At present NCR is spread over 150-175 kms. In which many districts and their rural parts also come.
The area of 13,447 square kilometer of both Alwar and Bharatpur districts of Rajasthan comes under NCR. If the new rule is implemented, then the existing area of Alwar, Bharatpur can be reduced by 50 percent. NCR currently includes 14 districts from 5 states. Most of these districts are from Haryana. Haryana itself had raised the demand to exclude them from NCR.
NCRPB provides loans to the states
The growing industrial units in Delhi and its surrounding area, had expanded its scope by creating NCR region to decentralize the population. NCRPB provides loans to the states at very affordable rates and for long term for basic infrastructure like water, electricity, sewerage, drainage besides education, medical and road infrastructure development in the NCR region. The rate of this loan is the lowest. Apart from this, if any scheme or budget is announced by the Central Government for the NCR region, then the states also get its money.
Urban Development Minister Shanti Dhariwal alleges that the Central Government has taken this decision at the behest of the Haryana Government, so that the districts of Haryana Government can get maximum benefit. Presently 13 districts of Haryana and 8 districts of Uttar Pradesh are included in it. Dhariwal said that he had also opposed the issue. In the next meeting, we will again talk to the Union Urban Development Ministry on this issue.
Bharatpur was included in NCR in the year 2013. Since then, not a single project has been prepared and sent to the NCR Board from Bharatpur. In this matter, Dhariwal said that we are working on 2-3 projects for Bharatpur. These plans will be ready in the next few months, which will be placed on the board. At the same time, former Chief Town Planner Rajasthan H.S. Sancheti says that the main reason for expanding the NCR area is to reduce the population density from Delhi and its surrounding areas.
Due to the high population in Delhi, there is a big problem like traffic jam, pollution. Apart from this, natural resources are also getting limited there now. For this reason, it was decided to increase the radius of NCR from 150 to 200 km. Now the working style of the board is being questioned due to the radius of 100 km.
