BCCI Plans to Bid for 2025 Champions Trophy, 2028 T20 WC, 2031 ODI World Cup

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held an Emergent Apex Council meeting virtually late on Sunday evening. In the meeting on Sunday, it was decided that the BCCI aims to host three global events – Champions Trophy, a T20 World Cup and a 50-over World Cup in the cycle of ICC events.

In fact, in the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting on June 1 this month, it was decided that between 2023 and 2031, the ICC will organize a tournament every year, which includes T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup, Champions Trophy. At the same time, 14 teams will participate in the 50-over World Cup. Whereas the number of teams in the T20 World Cup will be increased from 16 to 20.

BCCI will bid to host three tournaments between 2024 to 2031:

In such a situation, BCCI will bid to host three tournaments between 2024 and 2031. It includes 2025 Champions Trophy, the T20 World Cup to be held in 2028 and the ODI World Cup to be held in 2031. At the same time, the T20 World Cup in October this year. And the ODI World Cup in 2023 is also scheduled to be held in India.

However, BCCI has not confirmed whether the board is interested in hosting final of the ICC World Test Championship. Currently, the final of the World Test Championship is being played in England. It is expected that the ICC changes the venue of its final after every two years. As only one match is to be played as a final, as is being played between India and New Zealand in Southampton.
