The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the ODI series against New Zealand to be played this month. Indian young opener batsman Prithvi Shaw replaces Injured Shikhar Dhawan in the team. Dhawan was already out of the Indian T20 squad due to injury, but now he has been dropped from the team for the ODI series as he is not expected to be fit till then.
Team India has to play five-match T20 series against New Zealand. After Dhawan's exit, Sanju Samson has been included in his place in this team. Dhawan was injured while fielding during the last ODI against Australia. His left shoulder was hurt and he did not play in that match either. India has to play a three-match ODI series after the T20 series in New Zealand.
Prithvi Shaw is currently on a New Zealand tour with the India A team and also scored a century. This is the first time he has been given a chance in the ODI team. He has played just two Test matches for India at the moment. The selectors have shown confidence in Shivam Dubey as an all-rounder in the team, while Ravindra Jadeja is in the squad as a spin all-rounder.
