Auto Industry Remained Slow in September too, Discounting Offers didn’t Work

Generally, sales of vehicles increase during the festive season but this is not the case this year. Even in the festive season, the industry of auto industry remains intact. According to the latest data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), an association of vehicle dealers, retail sales of passenger vehicles in September fell by 20.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

In September this year, Retail sales of passenger vehicles fell to 1,57,972 units. A year ago in September 2018, vehicle sales were 1,97,653 units. In this context, sales of 39,681 vehicles have come down.

Two Wheeler-Commercial Vehicle sales also Declined
During this period, sales of two-wheelers and commercial vehicles have also come down. According to FADA, two-wheeler sales fell by 12.1 percent to 10,98,271 units from 12,48,998 units in the same period a year ago.

Similarly, commercial vehicle sales fell 18.5 percent to 63,518 units from 77,980 units in September 2018. However, sales of three-wheelers rose 1.8 percent to 55,553 units during the period, from 54,560 units in the same month a year ago.

SIAM also Released Figures
Let me tell you that recently, SIAM, the association of automobile manufacturers, also released the car sales figures in September. According to SIAM, sales of passenger vehicles have fallen by 23.69 per cent, while commercial vehicles have fallen by 62.11 per cent.

If we talk about the production of three wheelers i.e. three wheelers and domestic sales, then there has been a fall of 1.15 percent and 3.92 percent respectively. At the same time, the domestic sales of two-wheelers have fallen by 22.09 percent.

Even Discount Offers didn't Work
These figures have come at a time when the festive season is going on. This season is considered a boon for the auto industry. It is believed that people consider auspicious to buy cars on the occasion of festivals.

At the same time, companies also offer a variety of offers to woo their customers. But even after all these conditions, sales have not increased. Fada says that it has never been seen that vehicle sales have declined despite the concessions given by companies when the festive season starts.
