Australian Open: Divij- Sitek Duo Enters the Second Round of Men’s Doubles

On Wednesday, India's star tennis player Divij Sharan reached the second round of the Australian Open doubles. He defeated Pablo Busta of Spain and Joao Soussa of Portugal 6-4,7-5 in straight sets with his New Zealand partner Artem Sitak. However, the pair of Rohan Bopanna and Japan's Yasutaka Uchiyama was eliminated from the tournament. The US Bob-Mike Bryan duo defeated Bopanna-Uchiyama 6–1, 3–6, 6–3. The match lasted one hour 17 minutes. However, the 39-year-old Bopanna's hopes at the Australian Open are not completely over. He will feature alongside Sania Mirza in missed doubles.

This season did not start well for Divij, who reached the second round of doubles. They were eliminated in the first round of Qatar Open. At the same time, in the Auckland Open, Divij-Sitek lost in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Sania Mirza will begin her doubles campaign at the Australian Open after 3 years on Thursday. In the first match, Sania and Ukraine's Nadia Kichenock will face China's, Lin-Han Xue. Last week, Sania won the Hobart International tournament with her partner. They both defeated the Chinese pair of Zhang-Pang Shuai 6-4,6-4. Sania entered a tournament two years after becoming a mother.
