The first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, held on Thursday, saw 60.17 percent of eligible voters cast ballots for 58 seats in 11 districts. In the 2017 elections, these seats had a total voter turnout of 63.47 percent. The voter turnout was around 3.3 percent, which was lower than the previous election. Shamli district had the highest voting percentage of 69.42 percent. Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, and Agra are among the nine districts with more than 60% voter turnout. Ghaziabad had the lowest voter turnout, with 54.77 percent, and Gautam Buddha Nagar had the highest, with 56.73 percent.

According to Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Kumar Shukla, the Kairana assembly seat had the highest voter participation of 75.12 percent. The voter turnout in the most recent assembly elections was 69.53 percent. In Sahibabad, the lowest 45 percent of votes were cast. In the last election, 49.12 percent of eligible voters cast ballots in this town. In the first phase, 10853 polling stations and 26,027 polling booths were set up for the convenience of voters. 467 Adarsh polling stations and 139 pink polling booths were built as part of this. These employees were all female. A total of 61 PWD polling stations were also built. Arrangements were made for the handicapped's convenience in these. For the elections, a total of 120876 people were deployed.

In Shamli, voter turnout climbed, whereas in other districts it decreased: There was 1.66 percent more polling in Shamli district than in 2017. Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, and Agra received fewer votes than in the previous election. In comparison to the previous election, Hapur district had the lowest voter turnout. 66.31 percent of voters voted in the last election, compared to 60.50 percent this time. Votes were polled in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, practically identical to the previous elections. In 2017, 56.80% of eligible voters voted, compared to 56.73 percent in this election.
