The Congress has always given respect to the first Dalit Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi, Damodar Sanjeevaiah of Dalit community in Andhra Pradesh, Jagannath Pahadia of Dalit community in Rajasthan, Bhola Paswan in Bihar, Sushil Kumar Shinde in Maharashtra as Chief Minister.
