Rahul Gandhi reached Hoshiarpur to campaign for the Congress candidate in the Punjab Assembly elections. There he fiercely targeted the Modi government saying that PM Modi had said in every speech that he would deposit Rs 15 lakh in bank accounts, give employment to 2 crore youth, did anyone get it? Why doesn't he speak on corruption or employment? They did demonetisation, imposed GST but who benefited?
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hit out at the PM over unemployment, saying he does not talk about it. Gandhi hit out at the Narendra Modi-led government over demonetisation and GST, alleging that only two-three billionaires benefited from it.
Rahul Gandhi said that the farmers of Punjab starved in winter for a year but PM Modi could not even observe a 2-minute silence in Parliament for the farmers killed during the protest. Also, he said that whatever the farmers grow in the food park, be it potato chips or tomato ketchup, everything can be prepared by directly transferring your produce from the fields to the food processing units. Stating that his party's chief ministerial face Charanjit Singh Channi understood poverty, Gandhi said Channi would lead a government of poor people, farmers, small traders and small and medium businesses and not 'billionaires'.
Rahul Gandhi also hit out at Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party and said that AAP does not understand Punjab and cannot take care of the state. Only Congress understands Punjab and can take it forward. Gandhi further said that our government is not of two-three billionaires. Our Congress government is pro-farmer, so we stand with the farmers. Also, he said that Punjab elections are in front of us and you have to choose a new government.
