State Congress Committee President Navjot Singh Sidhu is seen badly trapped before the voting for the assembly elections in Punjab on Sunday. A criminal defamation case has been filed against him in Chandigarh. After the lawsuit was filed by the DSP of the district, Sidhu's troubles may increase during the election.

According to media reports, Chandigarh's DSP Dilsher Singh Chandel has filed a criminal defamation petition against Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court. After filing the defamation petition in the court, DSP Dilsher Singh Chandel said that Navjot Singh Sidhu had made remarks against the police during a rally in 2021 and he did not even apologize unconditionally.

Sidhu made controversial remarks in December 2021

According to media reports, in December 2021, Congress state president Navjot Singh Sidhu, who reached the rally of former Punjab minister Ashwini Sekhri, made fun of the Punjab Police. In his statement, he had said that if Ashwini Sekhdi hits one, then the policeman's pants will become wet. Sidhu later clarified that this was said in jest. It was presented in a twisted manner. Earlier also Sidhu had made a similar objectionable statement at Navtej Seema's rally in Sultanpur Lodhi, which was opposed by Chandigarh’s DSP Dilsher Singh Chandel.
