Clash between Congress and Lok Insaaf Party Workers in Punjab, Simarjit Singh Bains Accused of Firing

A fierce clash broke out between the workers of Congress and Lok Insaaf Party in Ludhiana, Punjab late on Monday night. It is alleged that Simarjit Bains of Lok Insaaf Party attacked the Congress convoy and then opened fire. Action is being taken by the Ludhiana Police in this matter.
Ravi Charan Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana Rural, told news agency ANI that there was a clash between Kamaljit Singh Karwal of Congress and Simarjit Bains supporters of Lok Insaaf Party. Congress's Kamaljit Singh Karwal has alleged that Simarjit Bains attacked the convoy and also fired. The Joint Commissioner of Police said that action is being taken in this matter.

In this time's assembly elections, the Bains brothers wanted to contest the elections together with the BJP, but due to the lack of an equation of seats, these two brothers are fighting the elections on their own. Lok Insaaf Party was formed before the 2017 assembly elections. Lok Insaaf Party won two seats in the 2017 elections.
According to media reports, the hold of the Lok Insaaf Party is strong in Ludhiana. Lok Insaaf Party chief Balwinder Singh Bains is contesting from Ludhiana South, while his brother Simarjit Singh Bains has decided to try his luck from the Atma Nagar seat. The party has given a ticket to Randhir Singh from Ludhiana North.
Along with this, the party has fielded Gurjodh Singh from Ludhiana East, while Jagdeep Singh has been given a ticket from the Payal assembly seat. On the other hand, Harmanpreet Singh is contesting the Sangrur assembly seat on the Lok Insaaf Party ticket, while Bikar Singh Chauhan has been made the party's candidate from the Dirba seat.
