The country is facing a devastating Coronavirus outbreak, the countdown to election announcements in five states has begun. Elections are likely to be scheduled soon, but how will elections be conducted during the Corona period? The Election Commission, according to sources, is preparing to hold polls under the Corona Protocol.

Meeting are going on continuously for the election

For quite some time, the Central Election Commission has been holding regular sessions on election preparations. However, with the announcement of elections, major decisions on the scale of rallies and meetings can be made. According to information obtained from sources, large election rallies and public meetings may be completely prohibited. Only minor rallies or public meetings can be held in their place.

Election rallies and public assemblies are not the only sources of danger

These tiny rallies will only be possible if the Covid procedure is strictly adhered to. Parties can be urged to bring people who have taken both dosages to rallies. However, election rallies and public assemblies are not the only sources of danger. Employees who will be involved in voting work are likewise a source of concern.

What restrictions does the Election Commission have?

According to sources, the Election Commission will delegate election officials who have received both doses of the Covid vaccine. The same security officers who have received both vaccine doses will be deployed. Only a maximum of 1250 voters will be allowed to vote in the polling booth, down from 1500 previously. Not only that but the candidate will be permitted to nominate a maximum of five people. Aside from that, door-to-door campaigning is limited to a maximum of 5 people.

Conduct of elections during the Corona period is quite risky

The Election Commission has received information about the latest situation and Corona vaccination from the Ministry of Health, indicating how difficult it is to conduct elections during the Corona period. The Election Commission also met with the Indian Council of Medical Research, and the Director of AIIMS was consulted by the Commission.

New guidelines may potentially be announced by the Commission

According to the sources, the Election Commission may also issue new guidelines in conjunction with the announcement of the election dates. The guidelines will not be final till they are published. They will continue to be reshuffled, according to Election Commission sources, in light of the events in Corona.
