The Assam Government has taken this decision after the Central Government has given permission to the concerned states to evacuate the trapped laborers in other states.

Lockdown is in force throughout the country. The movement of people is restricted in view of the lockdown. However, the Central Government has given permission to the concerned states to evacuate the trapped laborers in other states. After this permission from the Central Government, the Government of Assam has decided to open its border with the North Eastern States.

Minister of Assam Government Hemant Biswa Sarma said that from tomorrow (Sunday) morning Assam's border with all the northeastern states except Sikkim will be opened so that the people of Assam trapped in these states can come back without any hindrance. He told that the border of West Bengal to Sikkim is adjacent, because of that the border will not be opened for it.
