After the havoc of the second wave of coronavirus in the country, now the Delta Plus variant of Covid has knocked. The rapidly expanding Delta variant has now been transformed into Delta Plus. A total of 51 cases have been reported in Maharashtra, including 2 from Mumbai. Out of these 21 cases, a maximum of 9 cases have been found in Ratnagiri. Apart from this, 15 to 20 cases have been found from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.

What is the Corona Delta Plus variant?

Delta variant i.e. B.1.617.2 which was first found in India, then gradually found in other countries also. Changes in its appearance have resulted in the Delta Plus variant. It was first found in Europe. The spike protein is an important part of the coronavirus. With its help, the virus spreads infection by entering the human body.

Delta Plus variant is super-spreader

Of all the variants that have come out so far, Delta is expanding the fastest. Although the alpha variant is also highly contagious, the delta is 60 percent more contagious. A Kappa variant similar to Delta has also been seen to be able to dodge the vaccine, but it did not spread much, while the Delta variant is proving to be a super-spreader.

How dangerous is the Delta Plus variant, the expert gave this advice to protect

The discussion on this has intensified after the Delta Plus variant responsible for the coronavirus infection was named the Variant of Cursion. A variant of the virus is said to be a form of the virus that is spreading rapidly and can cause concern for the coming times. However, many experts say that there is no need to panic because of Delta Plus. Public Health Foundation of India President and Epidemiologist K. Srikanth Reddy has explained in detail the current status of the delta plus variant of the coronavirus, the effect of vaccination on it, increasing infection and preventing it.

The delta variant, which is believed to be responsible for the second wave in India, has reached 85 countries of the world and its cases have been reported in 11 areas only in the last two weeks. The World Health Organization (WHO) has said this in its update on Covid released on 22 June. In such a situation, the Delta is expected to dominate compared to the rest of the variants. At the same time, only a few cases of Delta Plus have been reported in other countries including India.

The infection will be prevented in this way

Epidemiologist Reddy says that it is important to use masks, avoid going to crowded places and gain immunity through vaccination to prevent infection with any variant of the coronavirus. This will greatly reduce the risk of virus infection. Viruses mainly enter our body through the nose, mouth and eyes. If the virus does not get a place for infection, then it will gradually become inactive. In such a situation, the infection can be avoided only with maximum vaccination and behaviour according to the Covid guidelines.

How effective is the vaccine on the Delta Plus variant?

ICMR is currently studying in India how effective the vaccine is on the Delta Plus variant. However, more data would be needed to know the effect of the vaccine on the Delta Plus variant. Since the cases of Delta Plus infection are still very few worldwide, it will take time to find out the effect of the vaccine on it. There is currently no evidence that its infection is increasing.

Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are effective against Delta Variant: South African expert

The corona vaccine of American pharma company Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) being used in South Africa is more effective against the delta variant than the beta strain of the corona. African experts have said this. The beta variant was first detected in South Africa. The Delta variant was first found in India. At a media briefing led by Acting Health Minister Mamamoloko Kubayi on Friday, experts said the results of both lab research and field studies showed that the vaccines are quite effective against the delta virus.

Vaccination will have to be accelerated, protection from serious disease

According to Dr. Reddy, we have to speed up the vaccination to take advantage of the protection from the vaccine at present. Even though the vaccine effect is less on the delta variant than the alpha variant, the current vaccines protect against serious illness and death. The effect of the vaccine is less if the protein is able to change its form while developing on the surface by defeating the antibody.
