Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni turned 40 today. Known as 'Captain Cool', Dhoni is counted among the most successful captains in international cricket. Dhoni is the only captain to have won all three ICC trophies. Under Dhoni's captaincy, India won the T20 World Cup in 2007, India won the World Cup for the second time under his captaincy in 2011. At the same time, India also won the title of ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 under the captaincy of Dhoni. Dhoni made the country proud by winning three ICC trophies for Team India.

Dhoni had retired from international cricket on August 15 last year. Earlier in the year 2014, Dhoni had suddenly announced his retirement from Test cricket during the tour of Australia. International debut in December 2004, journey started from 0

Dhoni made his international debut under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly, wearing Team India's blue jersey for the first time against Bangladesh in Chittagong. But Mahi was run out after scoring 0 runs in this ODI match.

148 runs against Pakistan

Pakistan team was on India tour. In the second ODI of the series here, the then captain Ganguly sent him to bat at number three. Earlier, Dhoni had a lot of name in hitting long sixes, but he had not been able to leave much impact in international cricket so far. But he took the opportunity given here hand-in-hand and scored 148 runs in 123 balls and took the Indian team's score beyond 300. With this innings, Dhoni cemented his place in Team India. This was the 5th match of his ODI career.

183 not out against Sri Lanka

In the year 2005, India was chasing a target of 299 runs against Sri Lanka in a match played in Jaipur. Once again Dhoni got a chance at number 3 and after keeping 50 overs here, he batted till the end of the match and scored 183 runs. This score of Dhoni is still his highest score in ODI cricket.

India T20 World Champion in 2007

T20 World Cup was being played for the first time and Mahendra Singh Dhoni created history here with his captaincy skills. India not only reached the final of this first World T20 but also won the title by defeating its arch-rivals Pakistan.

India World Champion for the second time in 2011

This World Cup was being held in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, including India. India won the title for the second time after defeating Sri Lanka in the final here. Dhoni is the second Indian captain, after Kapil Dev, to win the world champion title.

In this title match, India was chasing a target of 275 runs. Sachin and Sehwag (for 31) returned to the pavilion early. After this Virat got out, then Dhoni landed on the batting at number 5 here. Dhoni played a match-winning partnership with Gambhir in this match and gave Team India the title by hitting a winning six.

Double century in test

In the year 2013, India was playing against Australia in their home series. Dhoni scored the only double century of his Test career in the Chennai Test here. Dhoni scored 224 runs here and India won by 8 wickets here.
