After a few weeks had passed after Ramnik's departure, Gangubai realized she couldn't leave this place and she accepted the life of a prostitute. A man named Shaukat Khan held Gangubai hostage for the entire night, and after spending the entire night with her, forcing her and raping her, he did not even offer money to Gangubai.

The film was shot in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's signature manner, with large sets and superb lighting.
