Ariel Henry will take charge as Haiti's new prime minister and will replace interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph. However, it is not yet clear when Claude Joseph will step down. Since the assassination of President Jovenal Moise on July 7, Claude had been leading the government of Haiti with the support of the police and military.

Haiti's election minister, Mathias Pierre, said talks were still ongoing. He said Joseph would take up the post again as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Meanwhile,  Joseph did not immediately comment on the matter. The change follows a statement on Saturday by a leading group of international diplomats who were pushing for Joseph's removal and asking Henry to form the government. Let us tell you that Moise had appointed Henry as Prime Minister of the country a day before his assassination at his residence on July 7.

Meanwhile, Henry said, "I present my compliments to the Haitian people who have shown political maturity in the face of what can be considered a coup…Our Haitian brothers gave peace a chance, while leaving the possibility that the truth could one day be restored. Now it is up to all the national leaders to walk together in unity, towards the same goal, to show that they are responsible."
