11 people died after a crane fell on the Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) campus in Visakhapatnam. One person has also been seriously injured in this accident. Police commissioner Rajiv Kumar Meena said that the accident occurred at 12 noon. A trade union leader says the crane was overloaded. Perhaps this is what caused the accident.
The deceased were identified as supervisor Prasad, Ramana, Satya Raju of HSL. Electrical gection and Jagan of HSL maintenance department, technician Naga Devudu. P Bhaskar of Lead Engineers Company, technicians Venkata Rao, Siva and Chaitanya of Green Field Company and crane operator TV Ratnam Officials are verifying the name of one of deceased persons
As per the preliminary information, the accident took place at around 12.30 PM during the trial run of a new cranethal collapsed all of a sudden

According to police, the accident occurred while the crane repair work was going on. The officers and the operators of the crane went to inspect it. It is being told that the death toll may increase as some more people are feared trapped under the train. Shipyard officials are verifying the attendance records to know how many people were there at the time of the accident.
HSL is 79 years old company
HSL is the oldest shipyard in the country. It was founded in 1941 by industrialist Walchand Hirachand under Scindia Steamship Navigation Company. The shipyard was nationalized in 1961. It has since been named Hindustan Shipyard Limited. Since 2010, it is owned by the Ministry of Defense. Earlier it was under the shipping ministry.
