Andhra Pradesh: 16 New Cases of Corona Virus Reported in the Last 12 Hours, Total Reached 180 in the State

In Andhra Pradesh, 16 new cases of Covid-19 were reported overnight, after which the total number of infected people in the state has increased to 180. The Medical and Health Department said in its new bulletin on Saturday that four new cases have been reported from Kadapa and Krishna districts, three each from Guntur and Kurnool and one each from Chittoor and Prakasam. All these cases are related to Tablighi Jamaat. However govt. has officially stopped mentioning them.

Out of 180 cases reported since March 12 in the state, four initial patients have recovered and have been discharged from the hospital. The 55-year-old father of a man who participated in the Jamaat program was confirmed to have a corona virus infection and is the first person in the state to die of the disease.

The man was infected after coming in contact with his son, who returned to New Delhi on March 17 after attending the Tabligi Jamaat program. State Nodal Officer Arja Srikanth issued a statement saying, "The person came to the government hospital on March 30 at 11:30 am for a health check-up. His blood samples were sent for examination, meanwhile he died around twelve thirty. "He said that the person was suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.

"The person was also suffering from other diseases which led to delay in finding out whether he died of corona virus or not," he said. The Covid-19 infection in the person's son was confirmed on March 31 and was isolated. Srikanth said, "We have identified 29 other people who came in contact with the deceased's son and have also been kept separate."

The Deputy Chief Minister said that out of 1,085 persons from Andhra Pradesh who participated in the Tabligi Jamaat program, 946 have returned while 139 are still out. He said that out of 946 people, only 881 persons could be traced.
