Nirbhaya’s Convicts Not To Be Hanged on January 22

In the Nirbhaya case, there is a big news coming from the Delhi Government and the Central Government regarding the hanging in Tihar, Delhi on 22 January. It is being told that the mercy petition of the culprits is under consideration, in such a case, there will be no hanging at 7 am on January 22.

During the hearing in the Delhi High Court on the petition filed against the death warrant of Mukesh Singh, one of the four convicts, the Delhi Government, while presenting its stand said that the mercy petition is under consideration, so there will be no hanging on January 22.

Advocate Rahul Mehra appearing for Tihar Jail Administration  said that the convicts can be hanged 14 days after the mercy petition is dismissed. We are bound with legal provisions. In this case, after the mercy petition is dismissed, notice is given 14 days before the execution.
