Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to senior Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Yudhveer Singh over the phone on Saturday. It has been agreed to withdraw the cases filed against the farmers. It has also been assured that the government will not implement the Electricity Amendment Bill. The United Kisan Morcha has formed a 5-member committee to discuss how the farmers will get the benefit of MSP. The committee may hold talks with the Home Minister on Sunday-Monday.
BKU leader Yudhveer Singh informed about the conversation with Amit Shah. He told that on Friday, he spoke to Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar over the phone and on Saturday he had a phone conversation with Amit Shah. The talks were positive. Regarding the cases registered against the farmers, the Home Minister has told him that he will write a letter to the state governments to end the cases registered in the BJP ruled states.
Whereas the Central Government will directly end the cases of Railways. Farmer leaders claim that in Haryana alone, cases have been registered against more than 45 thousand farmers within a year. Dozens of farmers are still in jail since the violence of 26 January 2021 in Delhi.
Yudhveer Singh said that we have a list of more than 700 farmers available. These farmers have died during the peasant movement. Our demand is that they should get 25-25 lakh compensation and one person from the family should be given a job. The Home Minister has told him on this issue that the Punjab and UP governments are preparing for it. The issue of compensation will also be discussed in the talks to be held soon.
BKU leader Yudhveer Singh says that MSP is a big issue which has been paramount in our demands since the beginning. The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) has formed a five-member committee to discuss what the MSP should be like. The Home Minister will have a direct discussion with this committee. Yudhveer Singh has expressed the possibility that the meeting with the Home Minister will yield positive results. The United Kisan Morcha has called a meeting again on December 7 at the Singhu border. It is believed that talks can be held on December 5 and 6. The points of this dialogue will be placed in the December 7 meeting of the SKM. Then some big announcement can be made regarding the movement.
Instead of power distribution companies, the subsidy will go to the customer's account. The customer has to pay the entire bill first, then he will get the subsidy.
Distribution companies will not cut power without informing the customers. The company who cut the power beyond the stipulated time will have to pay the damages.
Electricity supply will be given to several companies in one area. Customers will be able to choose the power company of their choice.
Proposal to de-license the power distribution sector. This will bring new companies to this area.
At present, in many states, farmers either get electricity free of cost or they are charged a nominal fee. Now if the bill comes, the farmers will have to pay the actual price of electricity. That is why the demand is rising loudly in the farmers' movement that this bill should not be brought. Electricity employees say that with this new bill, electricity is being completely privatized. That's why the workers are protesting.
