To Deal with the Increasing Cases of Dengue, the Center sent Teams to 9 States

The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday deputed central teams of experts to nine states and union territories to provide technical assistance to deal with the rising dengue cases. The Health Ministry has taken this step in view of the high number of dengue cases reported in Haryana, Punjab, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.

These states account for 86% of the total dengue cases in the country as of October 31. Expert teams include officials from the National Center for Disease Control and the National Vector Barn Disease Control Program.

While reviewing the dengue situation in Delhi, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday directed the Union Health Secretary to identify the states with the most active cases of dengue and send teams of experts there.

Delhi has reported over 1,530 dengue cases so far this year and over 1,200 of them have been reported in October alone. This is the highest number of dengue cases in a month in Delhi in the last four years.

Jammu and Kashmir- Dengue patients increased in the state, so far 993 admitted

District Jammu accounts for 64 per cent of the total 993 dengue cases detected so far in Jammu and Kashmir. The figure reached 639 with 33 new cases in Jammu on Tuesday. Many areas of the city are affected by dengue. Despite the drop in temperature, dengue victims continue to reach hospitals.

Cases rising in Madhya Pradesh

In Madhya Pradesh this year the number of dengue patients has crossed 10 thousand 500. Dengue patients are being found in all the districts of the state.

The state has the highest number of dengue patients after the year 2015. Before this, the number of patients had never reached even five thousand. It is a good thing that this year the condition of the patients is not getting serious. Of all the patients found so far, only about 45 percent have required hospitalization.

In Mandsaur this year the number of dengue patients has reached above 1200. In Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Indore also, more than 600 patients have been found this year. 40 percent of the patients of the state have been found in only five districts.
