Movie review: Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana's film 'Gulabo Sitabo' is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Due to the lockdown, the film was released on the OTT platform and not in theatres. There is a lot of buzz about this film. Shoojit Sircar's film 'Gulabo-Sitabo' is a full family entertainment movie.
The film 'Gulabo-Sitabo' written by Juhi Chaturvedi is based on greed. There are many stories in old Lucknow where tenants have been living for 50-60 years and then gradually occupy the house. Gulabo-Sitabo is a film adorned with some similar stories, in which Mirza i.e. Amitabh Bachchan's greed for his old mansion which is on his Begum's name. At the same time, Baankey (Ayushman Khurana) has greed about how he can stay in the mansion and does not even have to pay the rent. Right from the beginning of the film, the two fights a lot. While Mirza waits for his begum to die and tries to get the property named after him, Baankey tries on the other hand to let the Archaeological Department occupy the building so that he can find a home to live in.
The film runs from the beginning to the end around the same Fatima Haveli which will also make you feel bored at a time. Those who are fond of Bollywood masala films will not like this film much. The film has a number of excellent actors like Vijay Raj, Brajendra Kala, and Farrukh Zafar, but it seems that their talent was not used properly. Srishti Shrivastava has definitely done a great job.
Amitabh Bachchan used prosthetic in this film, his fake nose was clearly visible. However, when it comes to acting, Amitabh Bachchan took the entire limelight. Amitabh can only do such a magnificent job at this age. The difficulty Ayushmann had in speaking Urdu was visible.
The camera work of the film is good, which showed the old Lucknow. The climax of the film is definitely fantastic and unexpected, which will make you laugh. If you are fond of watching light films, then you will like this film but if you like Bollywood masala movies then maybe you will be disappointed with this film.
