Beginning his address in Rajya Sabha, Amit Shah said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is now very normal. Conditions have become very common there. He said that there are various rumors about this in the world, but since the removal of Article 370 in Kashmir from August 5, not a single life has been lost. Schools and colleges are open, as well as examinations are going on there.

During the discussion on Jammu and Kashmir, he said in Rajya Sabha that all Urdu / English newspapers and TV channels are working there. Banking services are fully operational. All government offices and all courts are open. During this time, there were also elections to the Block Development Council, where 98.3% polling was recorded. There is no provision in NRC which says that no other religion will be taken under NRC. All citizens of India, irrespective of religion, will be included in the NRC list. The NRC is different from the Citizenship Amendment Bill. He said that the process of National Register (NRC) for citizens will be done across the country. Whichever religion, irrespective of religion, bringing everyone under NRC is a process.

He further said that those whose names have not figured in the NRC list, have the right to go to the tribunal. Tribunals will be formed all over Assam. If a person does not have the money to approach the tribunal, the Assam government will have to bear the cost of hiring a lawyer.
