Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with party leaders in Mumbai on Monday. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also attended this meeting, but BJP's ally Shiv Sena did not attend it. He also visited the Chief Minister's official residence (Varsha) in the Malabar Hill area during Shah's visit to Mumbai. Shah's meeting was only for BJP leaders and he also visited the Siddhivinayak temple of Prabhadevi here. A party official gave information about this.

Earlier on Sunday evening, Shah addressed a rally in Solapur during the conclusion of the second phase of Fadnavis' 'Mahajanadesh Yatra', a mass campaign ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections, where Amit Shah stayed in Solapur at night. During this, he interacted with CM Fadnavis, state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil and some other leaders. On Monday, Shah traveled to Mumbai with Fadnavis, where he briefly met some state party leaders.

The state is going to have elections soon. It was believed that Amit Shah would meet Shiv Sena leaders, but he did not meet. Significantly, in 2014, both of them contested separate elections. The BJP won 121 seats in 288 during this period. This is the highest number of seats won by a party in an assembly election in the state.

Many legislators and leaders of the opposition Congress and NCP have joined the BJP or Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena in recent times. On September 7, Prime Minister will be on Narendra Modi's state visit. It is believed that some more opposition leaders may join the BJP during this period. PM Modi will inaugurate many projects during this period. The Uddhav Thackeray-led party is an ally of the BJP in the Center and Maharashtra.
