Michigan’s Vaidehi Dongre Crowned Miss India USA

25-year-old Vaidehi Dongre from Michigan has been crowned Miss India USA 2021 on Monday. Meanwhile, Georgia's Arshi Lalani was declared the first runner up.

25-year-old Vaidehi Dongre from Michigan has been crowned Miss India USA 2021 on Monday. Meanwhile, Georgia's Arshi Lalani was declared the first runner-up. Dongre, who graduated from the University of Michigan in International Studies, has worked in many places as Business Development Manager. Vaidehi has also won the 'Miss Talented' award for her performance of Indian classical dance Kathak. She said, "I want to leave a positive lasting impact on my community and focus on women's financial independence and literacy."

The chief guest and chief judge of the beauty pageant was Diana Hayden, who won Miss World title in 1997. On the other hand, Arshi Lalani stunned everyone with her performance and confidence. She suffers from a brain tumour. Meanwhile, Meera Kasari of North Carolina declared the second runner-up.

61 contestants participated in the beauty pageant:

61 contestants from 30 states participated in three separate contests namely Miss India USA, Mrs India USA and Miss Teen India USA. Winners of all three categories get complimentary tickets to travel to Mumbai to participate in all three competitions.

Miss India USA started by Dharmatma and Neelam Saran about 40 years back under the banner of the India Festival Committee. This competition has been going on since 1980. Miss India USA is the longest-running Indian pageant outside India. Miss India USA, an Indian beauty pageant held outside India every year. New Jersey's Kim Kumari won the Miss India-USA title in February 2019. Then 75 contestants from 26 states participated in the competition. The chief guest of this competition was actress Meenakshi Seshadri.
