Former national security chief in the administration of former US President Donald Trump has said the United States should work with India for aid in the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan. The United States needs to reconsider its reliance on Pakistan, she said. Let us tell you that this statement came ahead of a US Presidential meeting on the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which begins on 23 September.

Former Trump administration chief Lisa Curtis said it is now too late to punish Pakistan. Curtis, director of the Indo-Pacific Security Program at the Center for a New American Security Think Tank, wrote in a magazine that no US official since 2001 had been able to convince Pakistan to launch a campaign against Taliban in its area.

Pakistan relies on the Haqqani network to stop India

Lisa Curtis wrote in the journal 'Foreign Affairs' that since 2001, no American government has succeeded in persuading Pakistan to suspend Taliban operations in its territory. Washington may have collaborated with Islamabad in targeting other terrorist groups such as ISIS-K, but the Pakistani intelligence agency will never attack the Haqqani network linked to al-Qaeda, it wrote. Also, the Pakistani army and ISI rely on the Haqqani network to prevent India from gaining a foothold in Afghanistan.

The Taliban has strongly denied allegations of the presence of al-Qaeda and IS militants in Afghanistan. Also, the statement came as IS has committed itself to the Jalalabad explosion. A spokesman for the department, Zabihullah Mujahid, told the media, ISIS carried out terrorist attacks without disclosure. It is present in Iraq and Syria. But we have no evidence that such organizations are effective in the world. We are committed to the fact that no country will be threatened by Afghanistan.
