America is Concerned about CAB in India

A US diplomat overseeing international religious freedom said the US was concerned about the impact of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) in India. Sam Brownback, the US Special Ambassador for International Religious Freedom, tweeted, 'India's Constitution is one of its great forces. As a fellow democracy, we respect the Constitution of India but are concerned about the impact of the cab.'

Brownback said, "We expect the government to abide by its commitments to the Constitution, including religious freedom." His statement came ahead of the '2 + 2' talks between India and the US next week. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will be here next week to hold the second round of '2 + 2' talks with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and US Defense Minister Mark Espar on 18 December.

Meanwhile, 'Parliament's Action' and 'Hindus for Human Rights', 'Gregory Stanton of Genocide Watch', on Thursday expressed concern over the human rights situation in Kashmir and Assam at a parliamentary meeting organized by the Indian American Muslim Council.
