Airtel Removes Rs 99 International Roaming Fee, Gives Broadband Users 1000GB Bonus Data to Fight JioFiber

Airtel has been facing a lot of heat since Reliance Jio stormed into the picture with its aggressive pricing strategies and a host of other services. The telecom service provider has been busy offering super sweet deals for both its prepaid and postpaid customers. However, Jio keeps on coming up with even more aggressive offerings and Airtel has to adjust its structure again. Last year, Jio announced no activation charges on its international roaming packs and Airtel is now following suit.

Airtel has dropped the activation fee for its international roaming packs. Instead, subscribers can now simply activate the plan they chose and carry on with their international trip. The packs will now get auto applied once they are exhausted. "We've decided to do away with International Roaming activation fee for all our customers…We also understand that sometimes you may not have the time to activate the right international pack before you leave. So, we are going a step ahead and giving you a safeguard.," Gopal Vittal, Airtel CEO said. "With our Smart International Roaming packs, you never have to worry about bill shocks," he added.

Apart from this, Airtel has also come up with exciting offers for broadband users in the wake of the arrival of Jio's GigaFiber broadband service. Airtel is offering additional data for its subscribers using the various packs. Subscribers will get up to 1000GB of additional data over the existing quota of the pack that they have chosen.

If Airtel broadband customers prefer to go for the packs above Rs 799, they will be able to enjoy the benefits. The additional data offer is valid on recharge packs with a validity of 1 month. According to Airtel's offer chart, customers opting for the Rs 799 plan will get up to 500GB of additional data, valid until March 21, 2019.

Those going for the Rs 999 plan will get up to 1000GB additional data over the complimentary 250GB data quota. Data rollover is available on this pack, but only from the standard data quota. The Rs 1,299 and Rs 1,999 packs also get bonus data of up to 1000GB as standard. All the packs have free unlimited calls and messages as standard. The packs above Rs 799 also get a complimentary subscription of Amazon Prime for a year.
