Airtel Discontinues 3G Service in a State, will have to Upgrade Devices

Indian telecom company Bharti Airtel has announced to shut down 3G network from Haryana. The company has said that the work is being done to improve the 4G network here so that the customers can get the World class high speed network.

Airtel has said that the company will continue the 2G service in Haryana so that feature phone users do not face any problem. Since the feature phone still has 2G use, the company has made such a decision. Airtel had earlier stopped 3G service in Kolkata. Haryana is the second state from where Airtel is shutting down 3G services.

According to Airtel, notifications will be given to all 3G customers of Airtel and they will be requested to upgrade their handset / SIM so that they can use Airtel 4G. Customers who do not upgrade 3G handsets will also get voice calling.

Manu Sood, Upper North Hub CEO of Bharti Airtel, said, "The current smartphone ecosystem has clearly shifted to 4G devices, as customers need high-speed 4G service." In Haryana, by reframing 3G spectrum (2100Mhz), it is being upgraded to 4G (LTE 2100) which will increase the capacity of the network and will expand the Airtel 4G service across the state.

The company has said that 2100 MHz band spectrum has been deployed to strengthen the 4G network. Because of this, the company is now providing high speed 4G on the TRAI band spectrum bank.
