Everything was closed due to the lockdown implemented in the country from March 24, but some relaxation was given when Lockdown 3.0 started. In this exemption, a decision was taken to open liquor shops, after which a huge crowd appeared on liquor shops on Monday.
Be it Delhi or Andhra Pradesh or any other state, where liquor shops are open, 2-2 km long lines were seen. During this, social distancing was also ingnored.
It is important to note that earlier on Monday, the Delhi government had decided to introduce Corona virus cess in the price of alcohol. In Delhi too, the prices of liquor have been increased by 70 percent, the new prices have come into effect from Tuesday itself.
After increasing the prices of liquor in Delhi, on Tuesday, it was decided to increase the prices of petrol and diesel and increase VAT by Rs. 1, Rs. 7. Significantly, due to the lockdown, there has been a big difference on the government's earnings, not only the central but also the state governments have seen a significant decrease in tax earnings.
