Adani Plans to Expand its Capacity in Line with Initiative of ‘Make in India’ both in the Hyderabad Aerospace Park

Adani Defence and Aerospace, part of the diversified Adani Group, is forging ties to expand its presence. The company which opened its joint venture unit with Israeli firm Elbit Systems to make Hermes 900 and Hermes 450 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in its newly developed aerospace park in Hyderabad is keen to establish more ties with defense and aerospace companies worldwide to make various systems and products. The company is also keen to play a key role in 'Make in India' drive to make for Indian defense wings.

Ashish Rajvanshi, Head-Defence & Aerospace, Adani said, "Making Gripen fighter jets would require a strategic platform. Based on the Central government's call, we will decide where we will make them in the country. We will choose the place that the government will recommend."

Adani which though sees sufficient opportunities in serving the domestic market believes that there are also emerging opportunities in the export markets and the company will serve these markets with the help of its partners. Backed by all the partner companies, Adani has created capabilities for both Tier-1 and Tier-2 category supplies.

"Adani specializes in building defense equipment manufacturing units across India with an objective of putting India on the global map. We are making strategic investments by setting up defense manufacturing infrastructure with new lines of production in areas such as fighter aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, avionics-systems, and composites. Adani plans to expand its capacity in line with an initiative of 'Make in India' both in the Hyderabad aerospace park and in Rajvanshi informed that the company could also explore making carbon fiber in India, which is the raw material for making the unmanned aerial vehicles it will make in Hyderabad in collaboration with Elbit Systems. "If we have to go backward in the value chain, we will see.It depends on the right technology and the right partner. The whole carbon fiber that is currently used in India is imported material. In future, if someone is going to bring the carbon fiber technology to India, we will collaborate on that".
