AAP Leaders Sanjay Singh and Sushil Gupta Protested against Rising Onion Prices

Senior leaders of Aam Aadmi Party and Rajya Sabha members Sanjay Singh and Sushil Gupta demonstrated on Tuesday in the Parliament premises over the rising prices of onions. Sanjay Singh said that 32,000 tonnes of onions were rotted away but the central government did not take any action. He said that due to the negligence of the Central, onions were rotted away but they were not sold at low prices.

Earlier on Monday, Sanjay Singh wrote a letter to Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan seeking evidence related to the loss of 32000 tonnes of onions. In a letter written to Paswan, Sanjay Singh has asked whether 32,000 tonnes of onion rot in a single day? If information about rotting onion was received, then why was it not made available to the public and state governments at cheap prices on time? Do you have any proof of rotting 32 thousand tons of onion? If it is, then all the information related to its video and storage should be provided.

Sanjay Singh wrote in the letter that the people of the country are surprised that 32,000 tons of onion got rotten and the government kept sleeping. People also suspect that onion has been rotten in paper. And a big scam has been done in this. Did the government initiate any inquiry in this regard? What action has been taken so far on the officers due to whom negligence, onions were rotted away? He has asked Paswan that when you knew that onion production had decreased this year, why was the onion not imported from abroad at cheaper prices on time? All letters related to import-export should be made available. They have asked why the supply of onions to the Delhi government was stopped. While the Delhi government requested you to provide onions by December 9. Does your government have such malice towards state governments that onions can be rotten, but cannot be made available cheaply?
