Krishna Poonia, a daughter born owning love and affection to the land of her nation, today she has become a voice of every girl, every girl wants to become like her, achieve like her, make India proud like her. She is the idol for every girl who wishes to do anything for her country and for society. Krishna Poonia was born to a Jat family, who had married Virendra Singh Poonia, living in Gagarvas village in Churu district of Rajasthan in 2000.

Krishna Poonia's husband Virendra had been her backbone throughout her practices and journey in achieving this success. Krishna chose her game from Kanodia Girls College, Jaipur, from which she has completed her graduation in Psychology. Krishna Poonia was interested in sports since her childhood. In her college time only, she chose Discus Throw for her Sports career. She started to win medals in competitions at University level. Since then she never looked back. In Kurukshetra University, she broke the 48-year-old record and made headlines to her name.

Haryana's daughter met Virendra Poonia, a resident of Churu district of Rajasthan in a common friend's marriage function. Both of them fell in love at first sight. On November 24, 1999, both of them got married. After marriage, Virendra Poonia got the opportunity to become Krishna's coach. In an interview, both said that their relationship on the field is as like of a Coach-Player, and at home, they are the loveliest couple, also they have a 15-year-old son, and his name is Lakshyaraj.

But, after her college got over, she was so passionate about her target that she was waiting for the moment to accomplish the goal that she had been dreaming of. Now, the target was just in front of her and time was her, when she speared for Asian Games. Poonia won a bronze medal in the 2006 Doha Asian Games. At that time she defeated Aamin Singh of China and Ma Zhanjiang. Krishna Poonia won a gold medal in the 46th Open National Athletics Championship, at that time (60. 10 meters distance) was her best performance. Poonia had participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games but could not reach the final. On May 08, 2012, she made the world record in Hawaii and the United Nations in 64.76 meters, performing her career best, and this made the world record.

2010 Commonwealth Games

Discus Thrower Krishna Poonia is India's first female athlete who has won a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games, which was held in Delhi in 2010. Poonia had a clean sweep in it.

2012 London Olympics

Krishna Poonia had a fantastic performance in the 2012 London Olympics, in which her best effort was 63.62.

Krishna's step in politics: –

Poonia joined the Indian National Congress Party in an election rally in Churu. Krishna Poonia asked her husband who was employed in Indian Railways to leave his job and decided to join the Indian National Congress Party. After this, he got involved in politics and joined the Congress party.

In the Rajasthan assembly elections 2013, contesting from Sadulpur (Rajgarh) seat of Churu district. Krishna stood third in her first time but did not give up. She decided to be with Rajgarh citizens. In the Rajasthan assembly elections in 2018, the Congress again believed in her and gave her the ticket. This time, she registered the victory onto her name and started a new inning as an MLA. Today, on Women's Day, every woman is proud of her whom she has awarded and cheered with her great success, and for every girl, Krishna is the perfect example of Ray of Hope.
