342 Crore Donated in Covid-19 Relief Fund, Maharashtra Spent 55 Crores on Rent of Migrant Laborers

In Maharashtra, around Rs 342 crore was donated to the Chief Minister Covid-19 Relief Fund out of which Rs 23.82 crore was spent to control the spread of the virus, while Rs 55.20 crore were spent for the migrant workers to send them to their home state.

This has been revealed in the information received under Right to Information (RTI). According to the data provided by the government, till May 18, the fund received a total of Rs 342 crore, out of which only Rs 23.82 crore has been spent in overcoming the infection.

Under the Right to Information Act, activist Anil Galgali had sought information about this effect from the government. According to the government's reply, the highest amount of Rs 55.20 crore was spent in sending migrant workers to their home state. Apart from this, 80 lakh rupees were given as compensation to the families of migrant workers who lost their lives in the train accident in Aurangabad on 8 May.
