At least 8 people died in a dynamite blast that occurred at around 10.20 pm last night in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district. On Friday morning, the team of police and officials rushed to the Hunasodu village this morning.
At the same time, Bomb disposal squads have reached and the entire area has been sealed. According to a police official, “The entire area has been sealed. We can confirm four are dead. Bomb disposal teams will reach here from Mangaluru and Bengaluru in a few hours. As there may be active explosives, nobody is allowed inside till the squads come here.”
CM BS Yediyurappa ordered a high-level investigation:
Meanwhile, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has ordered a high-level investigation after the incident. On Twitter, he wrote, “It’s shocking and unfortunate news that many people have died in a massive disaster that occurred last night near the tornado of Shivamogga. I’m in contact with senior officials since late night, teams have already been dispatched to the required rescue operation.”
“I wish to express my deepest condolences to the family of those who died. The wounded are being treated and I wish them all speedy recovery. A high-level investigation has been ordered and strict action against the guilty is certain,” he added.

Prime Minister expressed condolences:
On the Shivamogga incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the deaths of blast victims, He wrote, “Pained by the loss of lives in Shivamogga. Condolences to the bereaved families. Praying that the injured recover soon. The State Government is providing all possible assistance to the affected,” his office said in a tweet.
