48 New Cases of Corona Infected Reported in Assam, Total 1561 Infected Now

Earlier on May 29, an aircraft carrying 155 passengers from Kuwait reached Assam and 30 of its passengers have been found infected

Assam Health Minister Hemant Vishwa Sarma said that 48 new cases of corona virus infection were reported on Wednesday, after which the total number of infected people increased to 1,561. It said that out of 48 new cases, 13 cases have come from Vishwanath district, 9 cases from Western Karbi Anglong, 7 cases from Karimganj, 5 cases from Sivasagar, 4 cases from Hojai and one from Kachhar. At the same time, the addresses of 9 of the newly infected people have not been confirmed yet, whereas the minister said that 48 new cases were reported on Tuesday night.

Earlier in the day, 28 cases were reported on Tuesday, after which the total number of infected on this day rose to 76. Those infected also include people traveling by air and out of these 28 people, 12 are from Naugaon district, 10 from Golaghat, one from Jorhat, while the address of other people is yet to know. Sarma said that out of 1,561 cases, 1,217 people are undergoing treatment and 337 have recovered, whereas 4 people have died and 3 have gone out of the state.

A spokesperson of the Airports Authority of India said that an aircraft carrying 37 passengers from Russia under the 'Vande Bharat Mission' reached Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport after midnight. Earlier on May 29, an aircraft carrying 155 passengers from Kuwait reached Assam and 30 of its passengers have been found infected. It should be noted that since the start of the operation of the aircraft, 64 air passengers have been found infected with the corona virus.

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in Assam has approved the Defense Research Laboratory at Tezpur to be a Covid-19 Testing Center, with this, there are now eight investigation centers in Assam. The minister said that the government aims to reduce institutional segregation in June and increase the investigation rate, whereas transition cases in Assam have increased since the opening of inter-state traffic.
