Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared on Friday that Assam had the maximum number of 46 Covid-19 cases in a single day. With this, the number of people infected with the Corona virus has increased to 256 so far. He tweeted that all those who have been confirmed infected are living in separate habitat centers in Guwahati, Tezpur, Jorhat and Silchar.
The minister tweeted, "Caution, maximum number of cases has been reported in a single day, infection has been confirmed in 26 more people, all these are from the Sarsuzai Isolated Center." Earlier in the day, Sarma had said that there were 20 new cases of corona virus infected in the state, whereas 195 corona virus patients are now being treated in Assam.
He said that four people have died due to infection in the state so far while 54 people have been cured after treatment. Sarma said that the rule of seven-day period of separate habitat at home and in centers will be strictly followed. Non-bailable criminal cases will be filed against those who violate the instructions.
