The 1000 XR will conform to BS6 standards for 2020 and the company will offer a 999cc in-line four-cylinder motor, but may miss BMW's shiftcam technology.

BMW Motorrad India has teased its liter-class S 1000 XR on its social media channels.  In such a situation, there are speculations that the company can launch this bike by the end of June.  The 1000 XR will conform to BS6 standards for 2020 and the company will offer a 999cc in-line four-cylinder motor, but may miss BMW's shiftcam technology.  In addition to this, asymmetric bulb-type headlight setup can be given for the responsible LED units as seen in the S 1000 RR.

If we first start with its engine, then it is the same 999cc inline four-cylinder engine that we see in the S 1000 RR.  However, it will generate 165 PS of power and 114 Nm of torque, which we saw earlier.  Talking about electronic rider aids, the S 1000 XR will get features such as traction control, wheelie control, engine drag torque control, a quick-shifter and hill start assist that comes with a 6-axis IMU.  Its complete package will come with an aluminum composite bridge frame.

Talking about the hardware in the BMW S 1000 XR, it can be given an electronic adjustable tension setup.  In addition, a 45 mm USD front and rear can be given a monoshock taken from ZF in the front and rear.  A 320 mm twin disc can be given in the front of the bike and a 220 mm single disc in the rear which can be of Hayes.  Apart from this, the weight of S 1000 XR can be 10 kg more.  The 2020 BMW S 1000 XR can be priced at Rs 18.5 lakh (ex-showroom).  It will compete with the Triumph Tiger 1200 and Ducati Multistrada 1260 in the Indian market.
