India and the US have identified small air launch unmanned aerial vehicles and a lightweight small arms technology project along with aircraft maintenance for defence collaboration, a top Pentagon official has said.

A top Pentagon official has said that the US Defense Department has made a big statement about defense relations. He said that with the maintenance of the aircraft for defense cooperation, a project of co-Development in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and light weapon technology project has been created. In a meeting in the US, Indian Defense Production Department Secretary Ajay Kumar also participated.

This statement from the defense officials of both the countries came during the latest round of Defense Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI) talks in Washington. All the focus in the Indo-US DTTI meeting focuses on working together with the US and Indian industry and developing the next generation techniques.

USD talking to the media roundtable on Friday in the Pentagon said, 'The one project we are looking at is a small Air Launch Vehicle i.e. Drones'.

The Lord, co-chairing the meeting with Secretary of Defense Production Ajay Kumar, said that the teams have many deliverables on special dates, whose responsibility is with the key persons. Lord said, 'Overall, we see it as an efficient, cost-effective method, which provides extra capacity for war'.

He said it will also help in three proposed mission scenarios, humanitarian aid-disaster relief, cross border operations and cave tunnel inspection.

These discussions are mainly between the American Air Force Research Laboratory and India's Defense Research and Development Organization. In April, the two sides will sign the Technical Planning Document.

"The DTTI is really delivering some opportunities, for both of our industrial bases to both better interact, as well as to bring the best of technology and innovation," Lord added.
