2000 transgenders from Assam have approached the Supreme Court. They have been excluded from the NRC list after which they are in trouble.
As per the reports on the issue of exclusion of transgenders from the list, Assam's first transgender judge and petitioner Swati Bidhan Barua said, "Most transgenders have turned destitute, they do not have papers before 1971. There is no mention of 'others' in the gender category in the application. 'Barua further said,' Transgenders were not included in NRC and were asked to adopt one of the gender-women or men. We are hopeful that the Supreme Court will consider our petition. '
More than 3 crore people were found eligible for inclusion in the final NRC list. At the same time, more than 19 lakh people could not join it. Those who are out of the list are those who failed to submit their claim. It is worth noting that those who are not satisfied with this list can appeal to the foreign tribunals.
