1984 Anti-Sikh Riots Case: Delhi’s MLA Demands Kamalnath’s Resignation From Sonia

There is at least five months left in the Delhi Assembly Election-2020, but the atmosphere has started warming up in the capital. In the latest case, BJP-Shiromani Akali Dal joint MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa has attacked the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath over the 1984 riots. Speaking to news agency ANI, he said- 'I believe that Kamal Nath is the only chief minister who will be arrested.'

Delhi MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa said- 'We demand the interim president of Congress Sonia Gandhi to resign with immediate effect that the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh remove her from her post so that Sikhs get justice. We also demand that 2 witnesses be given protection as they will testify against the CM in connection with a murder.

The BJP-Akali MLA also said- 'We have spoken to both the witnesses, they are ready to present their case before the SIT. SIT has also been talked about, they will give us a date.

In June this year, Manjinder Singh Sirsa had said that the role of senior Congress leader and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath would be investigated in the 1984 Sikh riots. The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to hand over the investigation to the SIT. Sirsa said in a press conference that he wrote a letter to the then home minister in December 2018 to investigate Kamal Nath's role.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa alleges that Kamal Nath incited the mob on 1 November 1984 at Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib, where two Sikhs were burnt alive. Sirsa said that in this regard, FIR number 601/84 was registered in Parliament Street police station on 1 November 1984. The police filed a charge sheet against five people in this case but Kamal Nath was not in it.
