16 Teams Announced for ICC T20 World Cup 2020

In the ICC T20 World Cup 2020, which lasts for about a month, the list of 16 teams who are going to compete against each other has been finalized. It was announced on Thursday through the official Twitter of the T20 World Cup. 6 teams have qualified in the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 qualifier matches being played in different stadiums of Dubai. Earlier, a host team got direct entry along with the top 9 teams in the ICC T20 rankings, while the remaining 6 teams have gone through the qualifier rounds. At the same time, the Zimbabwean team, which was banned by the International Cricket Council, has not got an entry in it.

The ICC canceled the membership of the Zimbabwe team due to political interference in the Zimbabwe Cricket Board. With this, the team was also eliminated from the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 qualifier matches. However, the ban was later lifted, but the team did not get a chance to qualify for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 to be held in Australia, which was sad for the Zimbabwe Cricket Board.

These teams qualified in qualifier matches

After the teams of Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Netherlands, Namibia and Scotland got selected in the ICC T20 World Cup qualifier matches being played in Dubai, Oman's team has also cut the T20 World Cup tickets to be held in Australia next year. Oman's team, after defeating Hong Kong by 12 runs, has submitted a claim to play the T20 World Cup. Some of these teams can also compete with the legendary teams like India.

These teams have already qualified

Teams from Pakistan, England, South Africa, Australia (host), India, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and West Indies have qualified directly for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020. Out of these, host Australia and India are being considered as strong contenders for this World Cup, as the Kangaroo team has a chance to win this World Cup due to the host, while India remains the favorite being a strong team.

The ICC T20 World Cup will be played in Australia from 18 October to 15 November next year. The final match of this World Cup will take place on 15 November at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), which has witnessed two more historic World Cup finals before it. The defending champions of the T20 World Cup are the West Indies, but their ranking is similar to that of a lower-ranked team.
