15,791 Contractual Teachers are Imparting Education in Government Schools of Himachal Pradesh

The government wants to regularize these teachers and that is why Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announced while presenting the Budget on February 9 that PTA and PAT teachers will be provided salary at par with regular teachers said education minister Suresh Bhardwaj.

The education minister Suresh Bhardwaj on Saturday conversant the state assembly that as many as 15,791 contractual teachers are imparting education in government schools of Himachal Pradesh (HP).

As reported, in total 11,035 teachers are working on government and Parent Teachers Association-Grant in Aid (PTA-GIA) contract, while the rest 4,756 teachers under Primary Assistant Teachers (PAT) and Parent Teachers Association (PTA) policies.

Budget 2019: Highlights

Presenting his second budget, the chief minister, who also holds the finance portfolio said the state management has decided that 10 percent reservation will be provided to the reasonably weaker section (EWS) of the general category in employment and educational institutions.

Meanwhile, the matter of regularization of PAT and PTA-GIA teachers is sub judice and three writs related to it are awaiting in the apex court.

In the total of 123 posts of principals are lying vacant in government senior secondary schools in the state, the education minister further informed the state assembly.
