Even if the convicts do not get any relief from the death penalty, they will get 14 days time. This period of 14 days is given to the person who is sentenced to be hanged to be mentally prepared. During this time the guilty person can meet his family, make his will. Tihar jailer Sunil Grover said, "After the earlier petition filed by Shatrughan Chauhan, it is now mandatory for a person to be hanged to follow certain rules before final punishment. Before hanging, the family of the convict will be informed in writing and the convict will also get a chance to be mentally prepared.

It is mandatory to give information in writing to the family

Tihar jail jailer Sunil Gupta referred to the exemption given to the convicts under this rule. He said, 'According to Jail Rules 2018, it is mandatory to give information in writing to the guilty person as well as his family. This information is given in a red envelope. This written information should reach the family within 14 days time and its receipt is kept as a record in the jail register.
