The government has canceled the CBSE 12th exam this year. Earlier the 10th exams were also canceled. This decision was taken after an important meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. During the meeting, the Prime Minister said that right now the safety of the students is our priority. It is not right to give them exam stress in such an environment. We cannot put their lives in danger. He said that the 12th result will be prepared within the stipulated time and on a logical basis.

5 big things by Prime Minister in the meeting…

  1. Keeping in mind the interest of the students, it has been decided on the examination of 12th standard.
  2. The safety and health of the students is our topmost priority. There can be no compromise on this.
  3. Students, parents, and teachers were all upset about the exam. This concern had to be put to an end.
  4. It would not be right to force students to take exams in such a pressurized environment.
  5. All the aspects related to the examination need to show sensitivity towards the students at this time.

All options were placed before the Prime Minister

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of CBSE, Secretary, Ministry of Education, besides Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Rajnath Singh and Prakash Javadekar. This meeting was done through video conferencing. According to the sources, all the options for conducting the examination were placed before the Prime Minister. These options were prepared after long discussions with the state governments and the CBSE board.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had demanded the cancellation of Class 12 exams. He had said that students should be assessed on the basis of past performance. Kejriwal had said that parents are upset. They do not want an examination without vaccinations. After the cancellation of the exam, he has called it a decision taken in the interest of the students.

Center sought 2 days time from Supreme Court for the verdict

The CBSE and ICSE board examinations were heard in the Supreme Court on Monday. In this, the Center had said that it would present its plan in the Supreme Court on Thursday. On this, the Supreme Court had said that whatever decision you take, you will have to give a strong argument behind it. Justice Khanwilkar had said that the students were very hopeful that this year also there would not be an exam like last year and a method system would be adopted for numbering.

Ministry of Education had prepared 3 Proposals

Sources had told that the draft was prepared by the Ministry of Education to conduct the examinations. It was also shown to the Prime Minister.

First Proposal: Exam should be taken for the main subjects of class 12th i.e. Major Subjects. After taking the examination of only 3 main subjects of Science, Commerce, and Arts, the marking formula should be made on the basis of the marks obtained on the main subjects in the remaining subjects.

Second proposal: Have 30-minute examinations and ask objective questions. There was talk of limiting the number of subjects in this exam, but nothing was told about it clearly.

Third proposal: If the situation of corona infection in the country does not improve, then internal assessment of all three should be done on 9th, 10th, and 11th. After this, the 12th result should be released on the basis of this. The formula for this proposal was also not clear.

12 states wanted 3-4 subjects to be tested, time also reduced

The states had sent their suggestions to the central government regarding the 12th examination across the country. Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Kerala, Meghalaya, Arunachal, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan suggested the vaccine before the exam. Maharashtra had also talked about online examinations. UP, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Assam, Himachal, Chandigarh, Sikkim, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, and Odisha wanted only the core subjects to be tested and the exam time should be reduced. Exams should be held in the children's own school.

Students wrote a letter to the Chief Justice

3 thousand students wrote a letter to Chief Justice NV Ramana about a week ago for the examinations. It was said, 'CBSE's decision to conduct physical exam amid Corona should be canceled. Direct the Supreme Court to decide the alternative method of assessment. Due to Covid-19 in the country, many students have lost their family members. In such a situation, conducting physical examination at this time is not only a threat to the safety of millions of students and teachers, but also to their families.
