After the cancellation of CBSE's 12th examination, the discussion on its result pattern has intensified. Education experts have already started counting the loopholes in the pattern adopted for the canceled class 10th results. They say that this pattern cannot be implemented in the 12th result. Due to this, students planning for higher studies can suffer a lot.
Earlier, in the midst of the Corona epidemic, the central government had canceled the 12th board exams across the country on Tuesday i.e. June 1. With the announcement of the cancellation of the examination, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the 12th result will be prepared within the stipulated time frame and on a logical basis. In such a situation, the biggest question is that on what basis the students will be assessed.
10th exams have already been canceled. To prepare its result, a team of 5 member teachers has been formed in every school. This team will also prepare the 10th result on the basis of internal assessment.
Experts are of the view that not all schools have a uniform basis for unit tests and mid-term exam. In some schools, unit tests and pre-board exams are conducted more strictly than board exams, while many schools make concessions in these.
Tania Joshi, principal of The Indian School, said that we have been allowed to do plus or minus only two marks. This may harm the students who have achieved high scores, as the internal exams are marked more strictly than the board. Our past data shows that more students score in the range of 70-80% in 80 marks paper as compared to pre-board exams.
Joshi also talked about the problem of standardization. He said that according to the reference year in the schools, this year also the number of students in different categories for different subjects may be the same. That is, if the number of students who have scored more than 90% marks in the reference year was 10, then this year also there cannot be more than 10 students in the score band above 90%.
Amita Mohan, principal of Amity International School in Pushp Vihar, said that a moderation policy is necessary. There are also cases where a student got 33% marks in his pre-board but got 65-70% marks in board exams. Therefore, we recommend that the limit for increasing or decreasing the number should be increased from 2 to 4.
RP Singh, principal of RGPV Surajmal Vihar, said that the moderation policy has been going on for a long time. My personal opinion is that class 11 results should be considered for board results. As far as considering class 10 marks is concerned, CBSE should consider 10th main subjects for class 12 result.
Meena Mittal, Vice Principal, Shalimar Bagh-based Modern Public School, said that a class 10 student takes their pre-board more seriously than a class 12 student, as class 12 students have to appear for various competitive exams during that time. . If we give 40% weightage to pre-board examinations, the result of high score achievers will also be affected along with the school result. Hence schools cannot adopt the 10th evaluation pattern for the 12th.
